The Three Giants of Modern Frontend Development
React, Angular, and Vue.js power the vast majority of modern web applications. Each has genuine strengths and trade-offs depending on your team's experience and project requirements.
React — The Flexible Library
React is technically a UI library requiring additional choices for routing (React Router), state management (Redux, Zustand), and forms. Largest ecosystem and community of the three.
Best for: Large applications with complex UIs, teams with strong JavaScript fundamentals.
Angular — The Complete Framework
Angular from Google is a complete opinionated framework with everything built-in: routing, HTTP client, forms, testing, and dependency injection. TypeScript is required.
Best for: Enterprise applications with large teams, projects where code consistency is paramount.
Vue.js — The Approachable Framework
Vue strikes a balance between React's flexibility and Angular's completeness. Consistently rated the most learnable of the three with excellent documentation.
Best for: Teams new to frontend frameworks, projects requiring rapid prototyping.
CSI's Recommendation
For most new projects in 2024, we recommend React — ecosystem, job market, and community support are unmatched. For enterprise projects with large teams, consider Angular. For smaller teams prioritising learning speed, Vue.js is excellent.
